A Chocolate Candy Variation

By Allyson Westcot

When chocolate was originally introduced to the western world in the 1500s, it was a bitter, strong drink sort of like a piquant hot cocoa. As it caught on in renown, people started to play around with alternative ways to use the cacao beans to make different types of chocolate. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and at last white chocolate were all invented.

Initially, though, chocolate was a rare commodity, a special luxury, and was only ever eaten on its own. It was not till the 1800s when chocolate became more and more available that, in a stroke of brilliance, chocolate started being combined with other sweets to make candy.

Think of all the possibilities for creativeness and discovery! It certainly was a rapidly growing industry and different types of chocolate began to become popular. One of the most entrancing sides of the chocolate industry is the room for creativity and the various differing kinds of gourmet chocolates that can be made.

Ever since peanut brittle recipes appeared in cookery books during the 1800s, it has grown in popularity too. Different recipes and kinds of peanut brittle have been dreamt up. Then, because chocolate is the special touch can improve virtually any candy, chocolate-dipped soft peanut brittle candy was attempted. It's become one of many people's favorites, and goes to show the delicious results of years of discovery and progress in the chocolate industry.

We all love selecting the perfect chocolate as a gift for a friend or family member or as a treat for ourselves! There's a chocolate for everybody and every scenario. But there are connoisseur candies beyond chocolate, that taste wonderful with or without it, just waiting to be uncovered. Soft peanut brittle is among the many treats that's not as common as something similar to standard brittles or common chocolates, which makes it noteworthy as a surprise or a present.
